INFLUENCE OF SCHOOL LOCATION ON GIRL-CHILD ENROLMENT, RETENTION AND COMPLETION OF JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL IN NORTHEAST NIGERIA
Abstract
The purpose of the study was to determine the influence of school location on girls in enrolment, retention and completion of junior secondary schools in North-East Nigeria. Three hypotheses were tested. In this survey, 769 respondents from Kanuri-dominated Local Government Areas in Borno and Yobe State took part. Data was gathered using a pro-forma and a questionnaire. Charts were utilized to for data presentation and independent sample t-test was employed to test the hypotheses. The study's findings showed that the location of the school had great impact on how many girls enroll, retained and complete junior secondary schools. The study therefore, recommended that government should make provision to educate girl-child particularly where parents cannot afford to educate them.
